The BFC Cares Program provides additional services for people who have multiple life
challenges that cannot be solved by our medical teams in one afternoon clinic session. We work with adults regardless of legal status in the U.S. All in-house services are free and strictly confidential. At BFC, we care a great deal about your health, security and well-being. This new program is
designed to provide a strong support system that works with you to fix the problems in your life that are most important for you and your health and well-being. Our dedicated team will work with you for as long as it takes to help you identify goals and find solutions to achieve them. At BFC Cares, you are our #1 priority. What will this program cost me?
Nothing! We will never require our clients to pay any fees for our services. Services provided by outside agencies may require a fee but we will do our best to find you the most affordable solutions. How can this benefit my situation?
At BFC Cares, we treat health holistically. We know it does not just depend on doctors and hospitals. We’ll work to help you find the best available solutions to fit your situation, whether it be employment, housing, job training and education, health care, legal issues, child care, etc. What do you expect from me?
The best outcomes come from equal partnerships between our team and you, our client. We
promise to do our part and ensure you receive the right knowledge and support to help you make informed decisions about your future. In return, we ask that you commit to follow the goals we set together. We ask that you attend appointments on time, communicate regularly with our team and other agencies we may connect you with, and engage in a respectful manner with the people working for you. What do you get out of it?
We are students, health care, and social work professionals committed to improving the
health and lives of people in our community. We strongly believe that all people have a right to opportunities and resources they need to live happy, healthy, and secure lives free from poverty, hunger, violence, homelessness and preventable illness. We hope to share in your successes and learn from this experience the best ways to keep people healthy. How much time will I need to put in?
This will be on a case-by-case basis. Some clients will need more attention in the beginning and should expect regular communication with us by telephone, e-mail (if available), and face time at the BFC clinic on Throop Ave. Our team will also work to connect you with the right resources in NYC, which will involve attending outside appointments and possibly some local travel. What if I manage to enroll in a health insurance plan?
You can remain a client of BFC Cares even if you enroll in a health insurance plan. However,
your medical care will be taken care of by your assigned primary care doctor outside of the Brooklyn Free Clinic. Can you really help me out?
We believe we can. However, our team cannot do it alone. If you agree to work with us, we will volunteer our time and energy to help you get the support you need to improve the circumstances in your life important to you. To Participate: Schedule an appointment at the clinic and ask to be enrolled into BFC Cares during your visit. Our social worker will then provide more information and answer your questions..
